描述：Perennials or rarely annuals. Rhizomes ± creeping. Culms moderately tufted to lax, (10-)20-50 cm tall, 0.5-1 mm thick, 3-angled, smooth. Leaves basal, 2-ranked; sheath 1.5-5 cm, apex obliquely truncate and ciliate; ligule a fringe of short white hairs; leaf blade filiform, 4-22 cm × 0.3-0.6 mm, canaliculate, margin involute, apex subacute. Involucral bracts 2 or 3, leaflike, longest 1-5 cm, shorter than inflorescence. Inflorescence a compound or decompound anthela of 10-90 spikelets, 2-7 × 2-7 cm, open; primary rays 3-6, 0.8-5 cm. Spikelets solitary, light brown to deep reddish brown, ± narrowly ovoid, 4-8 × 1.2-1.5 mm, flattened. Glumes densely gland-dotted, 1-3-veined forming an acute abaxial keel, margin membranous, apex acuminate. Stamens 3; anthers 1.5-2 mm. Stigmas 3. Nutlet narrowly obovoid to obovoid-oblong, 0.8-1 × 0.3-0.5 mm, 3-sided to nearly subterete, transversely ridged and cancellate with 4 or 5 rows of linear epidermal cells. Fl. Jul, fr. Sep.
