形态描述：多年生草本。根状茎横走或斜出，圆柱形，直径3-6毫米，具多数细长纤维状之根。茎高30-60厘米，方形，带棱，扭曲，匍伏，节处生出不定根，被褐色长硬毛。基生叶未见；茎生叶互生，具长柄；叶片两侧不相等，轮廓卵形，长6.5-11厘米，宽4-6.8厘米，先端尾状渐尖，基部偏斜，呈斜心形，窄侧圆形或近截形，宽侧向下延伸达1-2厘米，呈耳状，边缘有大小不等和不规则三角形浅齿，齿尖带短芒，有时具浅裂，上面深绿色，散生短硬毛，下面淡绿色，沿主脉和侧脉被短硬毛，脉明显，窄侧4（-5)条，宽侧5-6条；叶柄长5-9.5厘米，有棱，被卷曲短柔毛；托叶膜质，先端渐尖，边缘被睫毛，早落。花粉红色，2（-4）朵，聚伞状；花梗长1-2厘米，和花序梗均被柔毛；苞片早落；雄花：花被片4，外轮2枚宽卵形，长7-8毫米，宽4-5毫米，先端圆，外面被长柔毛，内轮2枚卵形，比外轮短小；雄蕊多数，花丝离生，花药长圆形；雌花：花柱3，离生，柱头扭曲呈螺旋状，并带刺状乳头。蒴果被长硬毛，具不等3翅，2个近等大，1翅稍小；种子极多数，小，长圆形，浅褐色，平滑。
